Florbela, it’s great to speak to you today. Let’s start by getting to know a little bit about your history at CASCO Pet.
I joined CASCO Pet in September 2005, initially as an administrative assistant. Given the small size of our company back then – 20 employees and two individuals in the office – I took on multiple roles and became a central point for all operations. As the company grew, new team members were added and I gradually progressed in my role, taking on new responsibilities to meet the evolving needs of our expanding organisation.
What are your main responsibilities today?
As the current Head of Administrative Services, my role encompasses a wide range of Human Resources responsibilities within the company – from overseeing salary processing to managing employment contracts to ensuring compliance. I play a vital role in fostering a positive work environment for our employees, which I find really rewarding.
I’m also actively involved in the financial and accounting aspects of the organisation, handling tasks such as managing accounts, processing invoices and maintaining accurate financial records. With my diverse skill set and expertise, I contribute to the smooth functioning of both the HR department and the overall financial operations of the company.
What would you say you enjoy most about working at CASCO Pet?
Animals have always held a special place in my heart, and pursuing a veterinary degree was a long-standing aspiration of mine. Being part of CASCO Pet, where we create exceptional products dedicated to the well-being of animals, brings me immense joy. It’s truly gratifying to be part of a team that works tirelessly to make a positive impact on the lives of animals, and I find great fulfilment in contributing to their welfare through our revolutionary products.
Thinking back over your career here, is there a standout memory or achievement that you’d like to share?
This year marks my 18th anniversary with the company, and throughout this journey I’ve accumulated countless cherished memories! However, one recent experience stands out as particularly impactful — the relocation of our operations to the new facilities in Portugal. Witnessing the transformation in the work environment and observing the positive impact it’s had on the team fills me with joy. The sight of happy faces, now enjoying a new workplace and improved working conditions, brings a sense of fulfilment to those of us who are not directly involved in production.
Additionally, another significant memory etched in my mind is the installation CASCO Pet undertook for a renowned pet store chain in Spain, called Kiwoko. The sense of pride I felt knowing that our team successfully completed such a great project still resonates with me. It serves as a testament to our company's capabilities and reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional results for our clients.
18 years is a fantastic achievement, and we’re fortunate to have you. Going right back to the beginning… what surprised you most when you started working for CASCO Pet?
On my very first day, I made it a priority to explore all the production areas, and what I witnessed left me in awe. The grandeur and intricacy of the manufacturing processes and the sheer magnitude of the operations was truly captivating and mesmerising. Witnessing this level of sophistication and artistry involved in our work was an experience that I found incredibly inspiring.
What skills or characteristics do you need to be a good HR and Office Manager?
I’d say one of my greatest qualities is my genuine desire to see people thriving and content. I consistently strive to find ways to motivate and uplift individuals, supporting their personal growth. I’m known for my unwavering perseverance and attention to detail, recognising that each person is unique and how important it is to tailor my approach to suit different individuals. These are all qualities I believe are essential.
Do you have a pet?
I share a deep bond with animals, and my beloved kitten Chanel holds a special place in my heart. Throughout my life, I’ve been passionate about rescuing animals – particularly those in need from the streets. It brings joy, providing them with a safe and loving home – so it’s only natural that I should end up working for CASCO Pet!
What I find most captivating about animals is their unwavering sincerity, loyalty and boundless capacity to love. I believe there is much we can learn from them. Their presence in our lives is truly remarkable and enriching.
Florbella, it’s been great to hear more about your work at CASCO Pet and your motivations and passions. One final question to finish with: What is the best advice you have ever received?
"Never lose sight of your true self". It’s crucial to always remember to embrace our individuality.
