When Vauxhall (General Motors) launched the new Astra model, they wanted to demonstrate its new rustproofing technology. To do this they turned to CASCO to create the largest movable aquarium ever built, using the tagline 'The new Astra. It rusts like a fish.' Cranes were used to install two full-size cars into the tank, alongside over 5,000 fish and divers.
The aquarium had to be incredibly strong to hold over 100,000 litres of marine water. Visibility was also key, with floor to ceiling glass panels, allowing a fantastic view of the cars and fish inside. As one of our most ambitious projects, the result was astounding and generated a great deal of attention.
